Kubicom has recently begun its partnership with Peab. We put a few questions to Björn Christensson, who is responsible for the implementation, about the road ahead.

What made you choose Kubicom?

We chose Kubicom for a number of reasons. We ran a targeted procurement process, and with Kubicom we could secure delivery reliability for our scope along with a high level of usability. Because what we needed was already in place — and built with a clear purpose — we were able to keep implementation time shorter.

For us, it's important to be able to collect data to gain better governance and control. This can drive change in both procurement and sustainability work, as it gives us a completely different type of follow-up.

”Thanks to BEAst categorisation via Kubicom — regardless of supplier — analysis across the whole chain becomes simpler and better.”

How do you ensure that even smaller suppliers can connect smoothly?

There are plans for webinars to help, but we're already seeing a big difference organically — and I think a lot of that comes down to now having an industry-wide standard with BEAst. We'll also be making efforts to simplify things for our smaller suppliers together with Kubicom during the autumn.

Industry-wide standard: Full BEAst compatibility means that even smaller haulage firms can connect without their own integrations.

How do you see the future of sustainability reporting?

I think the requirements will increase. We'll move more towards comprehensive reporting and declare climate impact across all stages. Right now we talk a lot about machinery and fuel — I think we're heading towards comprehensive declarations for construction projects covering all types of materials.

What would you say to others who haven't yet taken the step?

See the opportunity and the simplification — how it supports data collection and reporting. It simplifies so much. You have to be willing to let go of your old spreadsheet cells and think differently.
