Västlänken: digital earthworks management in Gothenburg's rock tunnels

In Trafikverket's Västlänken project in Gothenburg, Kubicom carried out a pilot project to create a unified digital information chain for the handling of excavated rock material.

Background

200,000 cubic metres of rock material, handled digitally

The pilot project was carried out in the Västlänken rock tunnels in collaboration with the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), NCC, Swerock, S. Blomquist Entreprenad and Seba-Data. The aim was to digitalise the entire information flow around the earthworks management: from excavation in the tunnels to transport and final destination at Swerock's quarry in Kållered.

A total of around 200,000 cubic metres of excavated rock material was handled, all tracked and documented digitally through Kubicom. The project was an important step in the development of digital working methods for environmental reporting within infrastructure projects.
